Smallpox Disease
Smallpox Disease is a serious infectious disease caused by the variola virus. It is a contagious meaning, it spread from one person to another people who had Smallpox had a fever and a distinctive, progressive Skin rash. Smallpox is an extremely contagious and deadly virus for which there is no known cure. The last known case occurred in the United States in 1949 and due to worldwide vaccination programs, this disease has been completely eradicated. Small fox is also Known as variola.
Types Of Smallpox:
There are two common and two rare forms of smallpox. The two common forms are,
- Variola minor:
- Variola major:
Variola minor:
Variola minor was a less fatal type of smallpox. The Centers for disease control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that only 2%. of those infected died.
Variola major:
Variola major CDC estimates that 90% of smallpox causes were variola major. Historically this type of smallpox killed 30%. of those infected.
Rare forms of Smallpox:
Hemorrhagic and Malignant.
Hemorrhage: caused organs to leak blood into mucous membranes and skin.
Malignant: Smallpox, Lesions did not develop into pustules or pus-filled bumps on the skin Instead, they remained soft and flat throughout the entire illness.
Symptoms Of Smallpox:
When Someone is infected with the smallpox virus, they. had no symptoms for between seven and 17 days once the incubation period was over, the following flu-like symptoms occurred.
- High fever
- Chills, fatigue
- Headache Body aches
- Severe back
- Abdominal pain, malaise
- Vomiting, Nausea
These symptoms would go away within two or three days.
How Do You Catch Smallpox:
One of the reasons Smallpox was so dangerous. And deadly because it’s an airborne disease. It tends to spread fast, Coughing, and sneezing.
- Direct Contact with any body fluid
- Sharing contaminated clothing
- Bleeding could lead to infection
Treatment of Small Pox:
